ExxonMobil and Enterprise Products Partners said last week ExxonMobil will acquire from Enterprise a 40 percent undivided joint interest in Enterprise’s Bahia natural gas liquids pipeline. Oil & Gas Journal said ExxonMobil will contribute its share of Bahia project costs to date or about $650 million. The 550-mile Bahia pipeline started commissioning activities and will begin commercial operations in December. Initial capacity is 600,000 barrels per day of NGLs from Delaware and Midland basins in west Texas to Enterprise’s Mont Belvieu fractionation complex.
A.J. (Jim) Teague, co-CEO of Houston-based Enterprise, said Nov. 20, “As the ratio of natural gas and NGL production to crude oil production continues to increase in the Permian, the Bahia pipeline will be an essential artery to deliver mixed NGLs to the fractionation complex in Mont Belvieu. From 2024 to 2030 NGL production in the Permian Basin is expected to increase by over 30 percent.”
Closing of this transaction is expected in early 2026. Enterprise will operate Bahia. East Daley Analytics said the Bahia pipeline adds “a major new artery from the Delaware and Midland basins to Mont Belvieu.” In third quarter Enterprise logged NGL pipeline volumes of 4.7 million b/d – up 391,000 b/d from 2024Q3.
