Oil majors ExxonMobil and Occidental Petroleum are the top operators in Permian Basin, according to a report May 27 from Enverus. The report said as of May 23 the latest weekly averages of active drilling rigs were 35.0 for ExxonMobil and 22.1 for Occidental. Other leading operators in Permian are Mewbourne Oil with 15.9, EOG Resources with 15.1, ConocoPhillips with 13.7, Devon Energy with 13.0, Permian Resources with 12.9, Diamondback Energy with 12.6, Coterra Energy with 10.6 and Matador Resources with 10.0.
ExxonMobil also is the top U.S. operator at 36.0 followed by Occidental and ConocoPhillips with 26.3 each, EOG at 24.0, Mewbourne at 23.7 and Devon with 21.0.
Enverus reported another small gain for Permian in active frac crews with 95 as of May 9 compared to 87 a week earlier and 94 a year earlier. Across the U.S., there were 179 frac crews compared to 183 a week earlier and 182 a year ago.
Permian continues to lead in DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted). As of May 9, Permian reported 2,135 DUC wells – down from 2,151 a week ago and 2,617 a year ago. Across the U.S., there were 4,043 DUC wells – up slightly from 4,037 a week ago but down about 25 percent from 5,411 from a year ago.
