According to a report this week from Enverus, ExxonMobil remains the leading operator of oil and gas drilling rigs in U.S. and Permian Basin. As of Jan. 3, the latest weekly average in U.S. for ExxonMobil was 36.0 rigs followed by ConocoPhillips at 34.6, Occidental with 30.7, Mewbourne Oil with 25.1, EOG Resources with 23.3, Continental Resources with 21.4 and Devon Energy with 20.7. Permian leaders were ExxonMobil with 35.0, Occidental with 25.7, Diamondback Energy with 19.3, Mewbourne with 16.7, ConocoPhillips with 15.9, EOG Resources with 15.7, Devon with 14.3, Chevron with 12.6 and Permian Resources with 12.0
Leading contractors by active rig count across the U.S. were Helmerich & Payne with 147.6, Patterson UTI Drilling with 95.3, Nabors Industries with 64.6, Cactus Drilling with 34.7, Ensign Energy with 32.1 and Precision Drilling with 30.0.
Permian Basin continues to lead the U.S. in frac crews with 113 as of Dec. 20 (127 year ago) followed by Rockies with 27 (32 year ago), Eastern with 23 (24 year ago) and Gulf Coast with 22 (31 year ago).
And Permian also remains the leader in DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) with 2,133 as of Dec. 20 (2,479 year ago) followed by Rockies with 804 (913 year ago), Gulf Coast with 603 (816 year ago), Mid Continent with 421 (522 year ago) and Eastern with 291 (403 year ago). There were 4,265 DUC wells in U.S. compared to 5,152 a year ago.
