ExxonMobil is the most active driller in U.S. and Permian Basin, according to Enverus in its report of Oct. 8. Across the nation, ExxonMobil had 37 rigs followed by Occidental Petroleum and ConocoPhillips with 29 each, EOG Resources and Mewbourne Oil with 24 each, Continental Resources and Devon Energy with 21 each, Chevron with 19 and BP with 15 as of Oct. 4.
In Permian Basin, ExxonMobil had 34.0 rigs for its weekly average as of Oct. 4 followed by Occidental with 24.9, Mewbourne with 15.6, ConocoPhillips and Devon Energy with 15.0 each, EOG Resources with 14.9, Chevron with 12.7, and Diamondback Energy and Permian Resources with 12.0 each.
Permian remains the dominant leader among regions in frac crews with 121 as of Sept. 20 followed by Gulf Coast and Rockies with 30 each, Eastern with 14 and Mid-Continent with 12. The U.S. current total of 207 frac crews is down from 272 a year ago. And Permian is tops in DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) as of Sept. 20 with 2,121, followed by Rockies with 755, Gulf Coast with 604, Mid-Continent with 444 and Eastern with 321. The U.S. current total of 4,264 is down from 5,310 DUC wells a year ago.
