U.S. exported 366.7 Bcf of LNG in May 2023, according to the latest LNG Monthly issued by U.S. Department of Energy in July. That’s an increase of 4.4 percent from May 2022 and a decrease of 1.4 percent from April 2023. Netherlands was the top country of destination at 64.5 Bcf followed by France at 51.7 Bcf, Japan at 31.2 Bcf, Argentina at 26.9 Bcf and United Kingdom at 25.2 Bcf. That’s 54.4 percent of LNG exports from U.S. in May to those five destinations. UK had been the top destination for the past six months.
Freeport and Corpus Christi in Texas were two of top four shipping points. There were 127 cargos shipped in May compared to 114 a year ago in May 2022 and 110 the previous month in April 2023. In May Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana sent 38 cargoes, and its Corpus Christi terminal shipped 18 cargoes. Also, Cameron LNG (Louisiana) dispatched 29 shipments, Freeport LNG sent 28 cargoes, Cove Point LNG (Maryland) sent 11 cargoes, and Elba Island (Georgia) dispatched 3 shipments.
