Houston-based water infrastructure firm Gravity said recently it reached agreement with a Midland Basin operator for produced water gathering and disposal that will add about 12,000 acres to its industry-leading position. Gravity expects to add 50 million barrels of produced water in near-term development. It will construct new pipelines to transport 50,000 barrels per day of produced water for delivery into its Midland Basin system (“reducing the demand for fresh water”), which has more than 500,000 b/d of permitted capacity among 16 interconnected saltwater disposal wells and more than 1 million b/d of sourcing capacity.
Trace Hight, chief commercial officer, said Oct. 4, “This new contract expands our water midstream solutions into a new core area of the Midland Basin, adding a significant amount of undrilled inventory to facilitate our future organic growth.”
