Dallas-based HollyFrontier said Nov. 18 it will build a renewable diesel unit at its Navajo refinery in Artesia, N.M. The new RDU will have production capacity of about 125 million gallons a year and allow HollyFrontier to process soybean oil and other renewable feedstocks into renewable fuel. With accompanying rail infrastructure and storage tanks, according to HollyFrontier, the RDU will have a total cost of about $350 million by completion in 2022Q1.
Franklin Myers, board chairman, said, “We expect our new renewable diesel plant will generate attractive returns and help us meet our requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard.”
