Honeywell UOP of Des Plaines, Ill., said Dec. 17 that it will upgrade two cryogenic gas processing plants for Fort Worth-based Brazos Midstream in Reeves County using new technology to increase recovery of more ethane and propane typically present in natural gas. UOP will upgrade two existing plants (200 million cubic feet per day) from gas subcooled process to recycle split vapor technology developed by its Ortloff engineering division acquired in 2018. Fabrication and assembly of the modular RSV units will be provided by UOP Russell.
David Dickinson of UOP said, “The Ortloff RSV2 technology significantly improves the economics of gas processing by extracting more of the valuable natural gas liquids which otherwise would be rejected into the residue stream.” The Honeywell UOP announcement added, “With the upgraded technology, the two plants will be better able to process the NGL-rich gas in Reeves County. By combining low capital and operating expense and ultra-high NGL recovery rates, the plants can provide significantly better operating margins.”
