On Jan. 18, the Permian Basin Petroleum Association gathered in the sumptuous confines of the Midland Petroleum Club and made a special occasion of honoring the lifetime achievements of one of the Permian Basin’s great leaders and businessmen: Charles Richard “Dick” Sivalls. The worthy honoree was recognized as the Permian Basin Petroleum Association’s Top Hand for 2023. Being named Top Hand means that the recipient is an energy professional who exemplifies all of the best qualities of professional and community service.
In his almost nine decades of life, Dick Sivalls has worked for one company: the one currently known as Sivalls, Incorporated. His achievements, however, cover a wide swath of public service, charitable work, writing/publishing, professional associations, and family life. All of that reveals his strong dedication to making life better for everyone around him.
It is this spirit of service, public and professional, for which the PBPA celebrated Sivalls.
Sivalls is his company’s president and chief executive officer. The business manufactures and sells process equipment for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. He is also president of Tectrol, Inc., and Control Ventures, Inc.
This was the second significant award for Sivalls for 2023. He was also the Honoree for the 2023 Permian Basin International Oil Show (PBIOS).
The Permian Basin Petroleum Association says thank you to everyone who attended the Top Hand Award Banquet honoring Mr. Sivalls. The event was a wonderful evening highlighting the dependability, selflessness, and kindness of someone who is a pillar of the Permian Basin.
Said the PBPA: “Mr. Sivalls has contributed greatly to the industry through his many engineering feats and tremendous work ethic. Additionally, his numerous hours of service to the Permian Basin communities, specifically Odessa, Texas, have created a lasting legacy and a fantastic example of selfless service.
“We are grateful for the show of support and respect for our newest Top Hand and would like to share Mr. Sivalls’ one request from the evening: that you consider assisting in the effort of naming the UT Permian Basin Engineering Building after another PBPA Top Hand, Mr. Jim Henry.
