Founded in 2014, Sunvapor is a leading solar process heat and desalination company. Sunvapor has developed solar steam, energy storage, and desalination technologies with several awards from the US Department of Energy. Sunvapor is headquartered in Pasadena, CA and is also incorporated in New Mexico where it is building a beachhead for sustainable treatment of oilfield water for beneficial re-use. Sunvapor designed, built, and operates the country’s only two industrial solar steam generation facilities – one for pasteurization, and another for biofuels production. Sunvapor is a finalist in the prestigious Solar Desalination Prize run by the US Department of Energy for its patented hybrid membrane process.
Key responsibilities:
• Manage the daily activities at the oilfield water desalination pilot plant
• Lead commissioning at the pilot and future commercial systems
• Supervise construction and ensure compliance with plans and code
• Lead operation and maintenance of the treatment facility
• Manage receipt of equipment and liaise with site host and construction contractors
• Train contractors and part-time employees in performance of maintenance procedures
• Provide hands-on assistance as needed in maintenance activities
• Receive and respond to system alarms/events as soon as they occur
• Execute or plan emergency and unscheduled maintenance activities as needed
• Log performed maintenance activities and report deviations from plan
• Make daily facility performance assessments and identify causes for deviations from expected performance
• Track and report on costs/expenses associated with O&M activities
• Manage spare parts inventory
Desired experience & qualifications:
• Field experience with steam systems and desalination or wastewater treatment
• Field experience with control panels, instruments, and process equipment
• Hands-on abilities as a mechanic; detail-oriented
• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights greater than 15’
• Desire to work outdoors at project sites
• Familiar with OSHA and ASME safety codes and practices
• Familiarity with basic data analysis using software tools such as Excel
