Mountain View, Calif.-based Kairos Aerospace completed its first of two surveys of oil and gas wells and gas pipelines in Permian Basin this year. Kairos surveyed more than 62,000 wells and almost 25,000 miles of pipelines from more than 800 companies over 6,444 square miles in west Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Kairos said its mission is “to improve operational excellence for the oil and gas industry with cost-effective, efficient methane reduction at scale. Data collected are provided only to companies who own the land or equipment and are never released publically.” Kairos said the survey covered 32 percent of Permian oil and gas wells representing 36 percent of Permian’s oil and gas production.
Steve Deiker, CEO, told Midland Reporter Telegram, “It is exciting to see the vast amount of actionable data we were able to collect through this survey while partnering with the Permian’s major producers and midstream companies.” He said the survey is making a difference “on our clients’ product loss rates and their environmental impact.” The second survey will cover another 20,000 active wells.
