Houston-based LandBridge said last week it reached agreements with subsidiaries of Samsung C&T Renewables for the option to lease acreage for BESS (battery energy storage systems) projects in Loving and Pecos counties in west Texas. The BESS projects will have aggregate capacity of 350 megawatts.
The agreements grant SCTR exclusive rights at each location to develop and deploy a BESS facility designed to enhance grid stability, support renewable energy integration and deliver clean power to the local grid. The projects could achieve commercial operation as soon as yearend 2028.
Jason Long, CEO of LandBridge, called the agreements “a meaningful step in further strengthening and diversifying our clean energy portfolio.” Long added Dec. 11, “We look forward to building on this momentum as SCTR continues to expand its leadership position in the energy transition space.” LandBridge owns more than 300,000 surface acres across Texas and New Mexico primarily in core of the Delaware Basin.
