Permian Basin added another rig last week according to Baker Hughes’ report for Nov. 12 for a count of 272 active drilling rigs in the nation’s most active basin. Lea County, N.M., leads with 53 rigs, but Midland County (30) has surpassed Eddy County (26), N.M., for runner-up followed by Reeves County (25).
Texas added 10 rigs for a new total of 264, New Mexico idled 5 rigs down to 81, and U.S. added 6 rigs to reach 556. Permian’s count last declined June 25.
Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 46 rigs followed by Eagle Ford (41), Marcellus (28), and Williston and Cana Woodford each with 24. Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 49 rigs followed by Oklahoma with 44 and North Dakota with 23.
Enverus said Pioneer Natural Resources remains the nation’s most active driller with 25 rigs followed by EOG Resources with 22, Mewbourne Oil with 18, Continental Resources, ConocoPhillips and Devon Energy each with 17, and Occidental Petroleum with 16.
