Led again by Permian, U.S. crude production to increase to 8.5 million b/d

July 5, 2019 by Bailey LeRoux

Production of crude oil in the seven major producing regions in U.S. is forecast to reach 8.520 million barrels per day this month, according to a drilling productivity report issued June 17 by U.S. Energy Information Administration.  That’s an increase of 70,000 barrels per day from June (8.450 million b/d).  About 79 percent of the increase – 55,000 b/d – is expected to come from Permian Basin, which is expected to increase from 4.171 million b/d in June to 4.226 million b/d in July.

Production of natural gas is expected to increase by 798 million cubic feet per day to 81.362 billion cubic feet per day in July in the U.S. seven major regions.  Most of the increase will come from Appalachia (43 percent of increase) to 32.444 billion cubic feet per day, Permian (29 percent) to 14.689 billion cubic feet per day and Haynesville (27 percent) to 11.519 billion cubic feet per day.

The EIA report said the number of DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) declined in U.S. in May to 8,283 from 8,360 in April.  That’s despite an increase of 41 DUC wells in Permian Basin to 3,971 in May from 3,930 in April.
