Houston-based Marathon Oil recently said its production in 2023 third quarter in Permian Basin averaged 42,000 boed, including 22,000 barrels of oil per day. Two company-operated wells in Permian were turned to sales in 3Q.
Marathon’s U.S. production averaged 369,000 boed in 3Q – an increase from 356,000 boed in 2Q. Oil production averaged 189,000 b/d in 3Q – an increase from 181,000 b/d in 2Q. Marathon brought 65 company-operated wells to sales in 3Q, including joint venture wells. Enverus reported, “Buoyed by strong results in second half 2022, Marathon Oil stepped up its activity in Delaware Basin this year.”
Lee Tillman, chairman, president and CEO, said Nov. 1, “Third quarter results are a continuation of our track record of consistent operational execution, strong financial results and peer-leading return of capital to our shareholders. We expect to finish the year strong with free cash flow generation growing sequentially again in fourth quarter.”
