Houston-based Merge Electric Fleet Solutions said Sept. 28 it launched a program to deploy electric Ford F-150 Lightning trucks in Permian Basin. The first-of-its-kind program will enable oil and gas operators and service companies to test electric trucks, determine if the trucks will meet their needs, and build fleet electrification plans. Each qualified company will receive two Ford F-150 Lightning trucks to rent for 31 days, including access to a charging station.
Glen Stancil, CEO, said, “With the oil and gas industry actively embracing the benefits of electrifying many of its field operations, we believe the time is ripe to help those same companies evaluate their corporate fleets… We see average mileages of 28,000-35,000 a year on these trucks… The more miles you drive, the more fuel and maintenance savings you get so the oil and gas industry is really a great place to deploy these trucks to save money and save on emissions.”
