Christi Craddick of Midland this week was elected chair of the Railroad Commission of Texas to succeed Jim Wright. A member of the commission since 2012, Craddick will lead the commission that oversees the state’s oil and natural gas industry, pipeline safety, natural gas utilities, energy infrastructure, and surface coal and uranium mining.
After her election Tuesday, Craddick said, “Texas is the energy capital of the world because of the hardworking men and women who produce the resources that fuel our economy, power our communities, and strengthen our national security.” Earlier this year she was an unsuccessful candidate for Texas comptroller in the Republican primary. Craddick, 56, is a graduate of Midland High School and University of Texas.
