Houston-based Milestone Environmental Services, largest energy waste sequestration company in U.S., said last week it received approval from Railroad Commission of Texas for its third RCRA-exempt energy waste landfill permit in Permian Basin. Milestone said Thursday that development plans are in progress for the landfill of about 12.4 million cubic yards. It will be located with Milestone’s existing slurry injection facility south of Stanton in the heart of the Midland Basin and will accept drill cuttings, contaminated soil, cement, gels and other non-hazardous energy waste solids.
Richard Leaper, executive vice president, said Oct. 12, “Approval of this landfill permit paves the way for Milestone to better serve the growing needs of our customers in this area by providing a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution for their solid waste management needs.” Milestone said the commission approved the permit Aug. 22.
