Findlay, Ohio-based MPLX said recently it advanced its Permian Basin growth strategy with the acquisition of the remaining 40 percent interest from a partner in a gathering and processing joint venture for about $270 million.
In its logistics and storage segment, MPLX is expanding its natural gas and NGL long-haul and crude gathering pipelines supporting Permian and Bakken basins. In the Permian, MPLX is enhancing its natural gas strategy. Construction is in progress on the Agua Dulce Corpus Christi pipeline lateral, which is expected to be in service in 2024Q3.
In its gathering and processing segment, MPLX remains focused on Permian and Marcellus basins in response to producer demand. In Permian’s Delaware Basin, construction is in progress on its sixth natural gas processing plant, Preakness II, expected online in early 2Q. And MPLX is planning to build Secretariat, its seventh processing plant in the basin expected online in second half of 2025. These new plants will grow MPLX processing capacity in Delaware Basin to 1.4 Bcfd.
