Baker Hughes’ count of drilling rigs reached a 2022 high of 113 in New Mexico for the week that ended Sept. 30. New Mexico added 2 rigs in the past week and 27 in the past year. Also, as of Sept. 30 there were 344 rigs in Permian Basin (unchanged in past week, up 81 in past year), 360 in Texas (down 2 in past week, up 117 in past year) and 765 in U.S. (up 1 in past week, up 237 in past year).
Enverus said Sept. 29 that four of the six major plays – Anadarko, Gulf Coast, DJ and Appalachia – reached 2022 highs in the past week.
Louisiana with 66 rigs (unchanged in past week) is No. 3 among states followed by Oklahoma with 64 (down 1 in past week) and North Dakota with 38 (up 1 in past week). Eagle Ford in south Texas is No. 2 among regions with 72 rigs (unchanged) followed by Haynesville with 71 (unchanged) and Marcellus (up 3) and Williston (unchanged) with 39 each.
