New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said Tuesday in Santa Fe she wants industry officials in her state to help create new regulations for methane emissions in cooperation with her administration, and she hopes New Mexico overtakes North Dakota to become the nation’s No. 2 crude oil producer. She spoke to members of New Mexico Oil and Gas Association as reported by the Associated Press.
“I have no doubt that New Mexico is going to get methane regulating right,” she said. “Why? Because you’re at the table, because I’m using your innovation and technology.” She said her cabinet secretaries for oilfield and environmental regulation will collaborate with the energy industry.
