San Antonio-based NuStar Energy said March 3 it will develop 6,000 barrels of incremental pipeline capacity for additional refined products, including gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, into the Albuquerque region. NuStar will upgrade pump stations in a pipeline system it jointly owns with Phillips 66 Partners that transports refined products from Amarillo to Albuquerque. The project, expected to be completed by mid-2022, will install larger and more efficient electric pumps and a modern, efficient, diesel-driven pump to provide higher flow and reduce emissions by eliminating two diesel-driven pump stations.
Brad Barron, president and CEO, said, “The Albuquerque pipeline upgrades will help ensure ample refined product supply for the market that has lost production due to a recent refinery closure in the state.”
