Odessa Gets New Chemical Warehousing

April 1, 2026 by PBOG Leave a Comment

Regional chemical warehousing is emerging as a critical competitive strategy as oilfield service providers confront rising logistics costs, volatile freight rates, and extended supply chain delays. To meet this need, Centrium Energy Solutions expanded its U.S. distribution network with new strategic hubs in the Permian and Williston basins, bringing the total warehouse count within the Cathedral Holdings network to eight, according to a prepared statement issued Feb. 24. The new locations increase access to domestically sourced chemistries in regions where local chemical stock has historically been limited. By positioning hazardous, corrosive, and flammable materials closer to the point of use, Centrium enables oilfield service providers to reduce lead times, lower freight costs, and purchase quantities aligned with actual field demand.

Ongoing supply chain volatility and freight cost pressure have disrupted raw material availability and amplified price fluctuations across the chemical market. For midsized oilfield service providers—particularly those operating in remote basins such as the Bakken and Williston—most chemical supply still requires long-distance trucking, often from hundreds of miles away. This model increases capital requirements, lengthens response times, and limits flexibility in field operations.

Regional stocking provides an alternative. By maintaining inventory within basin, service companies gain faster access to materials without the burden of carrying excess inventory or committing to full truckload minimums.

The ability to purchase smaller quantities without sacrificing full truckload economics has become one of the oilfield’s most urgent operational needs, said Sean Moore, Account Manager, Operations Lead for Centrium Energy Solutions. By opening additional stocking sites inside the basins, we are enabling operators and service companies to access the chemistry they need quickly, cost effectively and without tying up capital in excess inventory.

Centrium’s regional stocking hubs provide three structural advantages for oilfield service companies:

  • Less Than Truckload Access
A typical truckload contains approximately 30,000 pounds or 18 totes—more volume than many regional service providers require at one time. By receiving full truckloads and distributing in smaller quantities, Centrium allows customers to purchase as little as two to three totes while maintaining full truckload pricing advantages.
  • Hazardous Material Ready Storage
Both new facilities are permitted for corrosive and flammable products. This expands access to a broader range of production chemistries, particularly in the Williston Basin, where storage capacity for hazardous materials is limited.
  • Faster, More Reliable Delivery
With inventory positioned within basin, customers can receive materials within 48 hours—reducing multi-week lead times associated with long-distance freight or offshore imports. Local availability also enables faster field trials and more responsive chemistry optimization programs.

Supporting Tier 2 and Tier 3 Oilfield Service Providers

Centrium Energy Solutions partners with Tier 2 and Tier 3 oilfield service providers, delivering world-class logistics infrastructure and regional chemical access that enhances speed, flexibility and capital efficiency.

By regionalizing chemical inventory and offering flexible quantity purchasing, Centrium helps level the competitive landscape, allowing mid-sized service companies to operate with greater efficiency and responsiveness.

The expansion strengthens Centrium’s broader distribution network under Cathedral Holdings, a 100 percent employee-owned organization with longstanding expertise in specialty chemical distribution across multiple vertical markets.
