Data from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show a steady increase in oilfield employment, according to Energy Workforce and Technologies Council. The council said oilfield employment reported a slight gain last month by adding 1,466 jobs. Energy employment improved 22.5 percent from January “as the market continues to steady itself amid global geopolitical conflicts.”
Molly Determan, Energy Workforce president, told the Midland Reporter Telegram, “While the job numbers continue to fluctuate, the market’s overall performance in 2023 outpaced 2022. We expect to see this overall steady growth trajectory continue… We are encouraged to see production reach pre-pandemic numbers and see this as an indicator of positive growth for the industry.”
Texas was a decisive leader in oilfield service jobs in February with 317,552 followed by Louisiana with 54,413 and Oklahoma with 49,591.
