Louisiana is No. 3 among states with 43 (42 year ago) followed by Oklahoma with 41 (39 year ago) and North Dakota with 33 (unchanged in past week, up 3 from 30 year ago).  Eagle Ford in south Texas is No. 2 among regions with 48 rigs (unchanged in past week, down 1 from 49 year ago) followed by Williston with 34 (unchanged in past week, up 2 from 32 year ago), Haynesville with 33 (up 1 in past week, down 8 in past year) and Marcellus with 24 (up 1 in past week, down 5 in past year).
