With the autumnal shift in our weather and the beginning of fall across the Permian Basin, October brings a new start to the Permian Basin Petroleum Association’s year. This year we will kick off our new year as we do every year with our Annual Meeting.
This year, at our 58th Annual Meeting, we will also be welcoming our new Chairman, Scott Kidwell of Concho Resources.
The last two years have seen an incredible growth at PBPA in large part because of our current Chairman Kyle McGraw of Legacy Resources and he deserves a great deal of thanks and more for his hard work and dedication to PBPA.
While one term ends and another begins, there is no doubt that the combined contribution of our members will continue to ensure that our Association continues to advocate for the safe and responsible development of natural resources in the Permian Basin.
Each and every year we want to make sure that our Annual Meeting is not just an opportunity to gather, but rather an opportunity to listen and engage with substantive leaders. Our members have come to expect the most out of our Annual Meeting, and this year we were happy to deliver again.
This year’s Annual Meeting has allowed us to bring PBPA members together with key elected officials like Texas Governor Greg Abbott and New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to hear about the importance of our industry in both the Lone Star State and the Land of Enchantment.
We’ve also had the opportunity to hear from the most senior lawmakers in Texas history in former Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland) and Chairwoman Senfronia Thompson (D-Houston) to hear about their perspectives in their more than a century of combined public service and provide a hint of what we can expect during the all-important 87th Legislative Session.
Additionally, PBPA welcomed noted author Robert Bryce and economic analyst Bobby Tudor to share with us about the energy market and its future as well as the impacts of the economic challenges the energy industry is currently facing.
In just one month, critical elections in Texas, New Mexico, and nationally will bring the first glimpse of the shape of things in the industry and exert a great deal of impact on the ability of our member companies to continue to produce affordable, abundant, and reliable energy for America and her allies.
Our efforts throughout the year are focused on ensuring that we are best equipped to represent PBPA on the toughest issues ahead. Whether it be environmental regulation, endangered species, taxes, eminent domain, or any of the other issues we’ve prepared for, PBPA is ready to tackle them on your behalf.
We believe that this year, which will include the 60th Anniversary of our founding, will be the greatest one yet, because of your commitment to PBPA and our commitment to you. Thank you for all that you do and please let us know how we can continue to represent your interests in Midland, Austin, Santa Fe, and Washington D.C.
