Texas’ streak of adding drilling rigs came to an end after seven weeks with its report of a decline of 1 to 283 active rigs last week. Baker Hughes said as of Sept. 18 in the past year Texas added 41 rigs or 16.94 percent from 242.
Permian Basin reported 1 additional rig in the past week to 269, which is up 15 rigs or 5.91 percent since 254 a year ago. Also, there were 95 rigs in New Mexico (up 3 in past week, up 1 in past year) and 595 rigs in U.S. (up 4 in past week, up 53 or 9.78 percent from 542 in past year).
Haynesville (down 1 to 56) and Eagle Ford in south Texas (unchanged with 51 rigs) trail Permian among regions followed by Williston (up 3 to 35) and Marcellus (unchanged with 23). Following Texas and New Mexico among states were Oklahoma with 51 (unchanged), Louisiana with 35 (down 1) and North Dakota with 31 (up 3).
