Counts of active oil and gas drilling rigs continue to rebound in Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. As of Oct 30, according to Baker Hughes, U.S. rig count was 296 (287 previous week) to increase for the seventh straight week. Texas’ count was 133 (125 previous week) to increase for the fourth straight week and sixth time in the last seven weeks. Permian’s count was 142 (133 previous week) to increase for the fifth time in the last six weeks. New Mexico has 47 rigs (45 previous week). Gains of 9 in Permian and 8 in Texas were the largest among regions and states.
New Mexico counties Eddy (24 rigs) and Lea (23) remain the Permian leaders followed by Midland (20) and Martin (18). Midland added 5 rigs last week.
Rig counts in other leading states include Louisiana with 37, Pennsylvania with 18, Oklahoma with 14 and North Dakota with 11. Rig counts in other leading regions include Haynesville in Louisiana and east Texas with 37, Marcellus with 26, Eagle Ford in south Texas with 17 and Williston with 12.
