Permian Basin added rigs for the eighth straight week (and 12 of the last 14 weeks) as of Oct. 1, according to Baker Hughes. There were 263 rigs in Permian Basin (260 last week, 129 last year), 243 rigs in Texas (242 last week, 113 last year), 86 rigs in New Mexico (84 last week, 44 last year) and 528 rigs in U.S. (521 last week, 266 last year). Enverus said Pioneer Natural Resources is most active operator in U.S. as of Sept. 30 with 23 rigs followed by Mewbourne Oil with 18, Continental Resources and EOG Resources with 17 each, and Devon Energy and ConocoPhillips with 16 each.
Lea County, N.M., with 52 rigs and Eddy, N.M., with 32 rigs remain the most active in Permian Basin followed by Midland with 26, Martin with 25, Reeves with 21, Howard with 16, Loving with 15, Upton with 13 and Ward with 11.
Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 47 rigs followed by Eagle Ford with 37, Marcellus with 26 and Williston with 23. Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 46 rigs followed by Oklahoma with 40 and North Dakota with 22.
