Operators in Permian Basin, Texas and New Mexico reported no additional rigs in the past week, according to the weekly report of June 18 from Baker Hughes. There are 256 active drilling rigs in Permian Basin (down 15 from 271 a year ago), 261 in Texas (up 3 from 258 a year ago) and 97 in New Mexico (up 5 from 92 a year ago).
The U.S. count grew by 1 in the past week to 563 (up 9 from 554 a year ago).
Among regions, Haynesville is runner-up with 55 rigs (36 year ago) followed by Eagle Ford in south Texas with 44, Williston with 28 and Marcellus with 24. And among states, Oklahoma is No. 3 with 44 rigs (47 year ago) followed by Louisiana with 35 and North Dakota with 26. Colorado was the only state to add a drilling rig in the past week. Texas had added at least one rig for eight consecutive weeks from April 24 to June 12.
