Permian Basin and U.S. each reversed weeks of declining oil and gas rig counts by adding a rig for the week ending May 31, according to Baker Hughes. Permian Basin has 452 rigs (451 the previous week, 477 a year ago), and U.S. has 984 rigs (983 previous week, 1,060 year ago). The counts had declined six consecutive weeks in Permian Basin and seven straight in U.S. Texas reported 480 rigs (481 previous week, 535 year ago), and New Mexico returned above 100 with 101 rigs (99 previous week, 90 year ago). Other leading states include Oklahoma with 102 rigs (103 previous week, 142 year ago), Louisiana with 64 (63 previous week, 58 year ago) and North Dakota with 57 (57 previous week, 55 year ago). Other leading regions include Eagle Ford with 75 rigs (75 previous week, 80 year ago), Marcellus with 61 (62 previous week, 56 year ago), Williston with 57 (57 previous week, 56 year ago) and Haynesville with 51 (50 previous week, 54 year ago).
