Oil production in seven major regions in U.S. is expected to grow next month by another 74,000 barrels per day – most of it from Permian Basin. In its drilling productivity report of Sept. 16, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said production is expected to grow to 8.843 million b/d in October from 8.769 million b/d in September. Permian is forecast to increase to 4.485 million b/d in October from 4.414 million b/d in September – 96 percent of the additional 74,000 b/d.
The EIA said gas production is expected to grow to 82.362 billion cubic feet per day in October after 81.893 billion in September. Almost half of the additional production is expected to come from Permian Basin, which will grow to 15.144 billion cubic feet per day in October from 14.915 billion in September. Appalachia remains the top gas-producing region with 32.811 billion cubic feet per day in October after 32.615 billion in September.
The report said the count of drilled but uncompleted wells declined again in the seven regions, including the Permian. Permian had 3,839 DUC wells in August after reporting 3,864 in July. Across the seven regions, there were 7,950 DUC wells in August after 8,092 in July.
