Permian Basin is the only one of seven major regions in U.S. expected to increase in crude oil production in March, according to drilling productivity report of Feb. 18 by U.S. Energy Information Administration. Permian is forecast to add 39,000 barrels per day to 4.855 million (4.816 million b/d in February). Across the seven regions, production in March is expected to be 9.175 million b/d after 9.157 million b/d in February for a gain of 18,000 b/d.
Only Permian and Haynesville of the seven regions will add natural gas production in March, the report said. Permian will add 198 million cubic feet per day to reach 16.983 billion, and Haynesville will add 34 million cubic feet per day to reach 12.441 billion. Appalachia remains the natural gas production leader with 33.130 billion cubic feet per day in March (down from 33.350 billion cubic feet per day in February).
Permian added 14 drilled but uncompleted wells in January, the EIA said, to remain the DUC leader with 3,504. Across the seven regions, there were 7,682 DUC wells in January to decline by 34 after 7,716 in December.
