Oil refiner Phillips 66 reportedly has filed federal and state permits to build an offshore export facility about 27 miles east of Port Aransas. Reuters and Houston Chronicle reported the proposed deepwater crude export terminal last week. Reuters said Phillips’ Bluewater Texas terminal is being developed with Port of Corpus Christi. Dennis Nuss of Phillips 66 said the project will “provide an additional safe and environmentally sustainable solution for the export of abundant domestic crude oil supplies from major shale basins to global markets.”
Bluewater Texas project will include two 30-inch oil underwater pipelines to buoys off San Jose Island in San Patricio County. Reuters said the facility could load up to 1.56 million b/d, nearly the capacity of a supertanker.
