Phillips 66 to build new gas processing plant in Ector County

May 2, 2025 by PBOG Leave a Comment

Houston-based Phillips 66 said last week it will build a new gas processing plant near the company’s existing plant in Goldsmith in Ector County.  The new plant, Iron Mesa, about 15 miles northwest of Odessa, will have capacity of 300 million cfd.  Phillips 66 said April 25 that the location of the new plant will allow for gathering and processing of feedstock from the Delaware and Midland basins.  The project also will include improvements to the Goldsmith plant (160 MMcfd).  Iron Mesa is scheduled for startup in first quarter 2027.

Phillips 66 said it is on schedule to commission a second natural gas processing plant at the Dos Picos gas gathering system and processing complex in Midland County.  Dos Picos II with capacity of 220 MMcfd will come online in third quarter 2025.

Don Baldridge, executive vice president, said, “We’ll be able to retire portions of our Goldsmith facility and upgrade the processing.  That’s going to improve our operational efficiencies and our reliability and reduce our environmental footprint in that area.”
