Last week while on his first visit to Midland-Odessa as president, Donald Trump signed four energy infrastructure permits and officially extended export authorizations for LNG through 2050. Terms for LNG exports previously lasted 20 years. “The United States is now the No. 1 producer of oil and natural gas on the face of the earth,” Trump said July 29 at Double Eagle Energy in Midland after two fund-raising events in Odessa. “To ensure we maintain this dominant position, my administration is announcing today that export authorization for American liquefied natural gas can now be extended through the year 2050.” He added, “I will sign four critical permits granting approval to vital pipeline and railway infrastructure on our nation’s border. This will include two permits allowing the export of Texas crude to Mexico, a giant victory for the workers of this state.”
President Trump, on his 16th trip to Texas as president, also visited the location of a Double Eagle drilling rig. He also said, “We are going to tell the Washington politicians trying to abolish American energy: Don’t mess with Texas.”
