Production of crude oil in the Permian Basin is forecast to grow to 4.423 million barrels a day in September – an increase of 75,000 b/d from 4.348 million b/d in August – according to the latest drilling productivity report from U.S. Energy Information Admnistration. Permian will provide 88 percent of September growth across the seven major U.S. production regions of an additional 85,000 b/d to 8.768 million b/d from 8.683 million b/d in August.
Permian was the only region to report an increase in drilled but uncompleted wells in July. Permian had 3,999 DUC wells after reporting 3,990 in June. Across all seven regions, there was a decline of 100 DUC wells from 8,208 in June to 8,108 in July.
Also in the Aug. 12 report, production of natural gas is forecast to grow by 729 million cubic feet per day to 81.595 billion cubic feet per day in September from 80.866 billion in August. Fifty percent of the growth is expected to come from Appalachia (an increase of 367 million from 32.238 billion in August to 32.605 billion in September), and 33 percent will come from Permian (an increase of 240 million from 14.620 billion in August to 14.860 billion in September).
