Midland-based ProPetro Holding said last week it executed a contract with a leading Permian Basin operator to use its first electric-powered hydraulic fracturing fleet. ProPetro will provide services for three years following delivery. The equipment will be deployed primarily to support simul-frac operations. Initially it will use Tier IV dual-fuel equipment and transition to e-fleet upon delivery in 2023Q3. “We are excited to help our customers substantially lower their completion costs and emissions,” Sam Sledge, CEO, said Dec. 6. “The agreement marks a major turning point for ProPetro.”
ProPetro also said it ordered two additional electric frac fleets with expected delivery in 2023Q4 to give it four e-fleets “to pivot investment away from conventional diesel equipment.”
