Denver-based QEP Resources filed permits last week with Railroad Commission of Texas for 14 new horizontal wells on state-owned lands in Andrews County to lead the state in filing for the week. Houston Chronicle said it marked QEP’s first permits filed since January – 29 permits to date this year – after filing for 70 permits last year. The new wells will target Spraberry (9,100 to 9,500 feet). Chronicle said during week of July 22-28 there were 9 permits filed by Concho Resources and 7 by Double Eagle Development (for horizontal wells in Midland County also targeting Spraberry).
