If a tree falls in the forest, but there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? If a trade association has members, but those members can’t be in the same room with each other, can you have a member event?
On April 1, 2021, PBPA held its first in-person event in over 13 months. This event was a membership luncheon held at the Petroleum Club of Midland with guest speaker Jim Wicklund. Our first membership luncheon of the year was followed by our annual Spring Swing Golf Tournament a few weeks later, and now we are coming up on our annual Sporting Clay Shoot and Oil Patch Pit King Challenge. While it is the pleasure of the PBPA staff and leadership to help bring you these events, they really wouldn’t be possible without one certain person at PBPA.
Jamie Ramirez plans and organizes every PBPA event. From board meetings, to membership luncheons, to the Clay Shoot, golf tournament, annual meeting, Top Hand Award Banquet, and everything in between. Events at PBPA don’t happen without Jamie’s hard work and dedication. Under Jamie’s management, and the support of our members, PBPA had one of our best golf tournaments in the history of the event at Odessa Country Club back on April 12.
Coming out of the pandemic, we didn’t know what to expect in holding our first large in-person event. I don’t think any of us were ready for the incredible success that the event turned out to be. However, with Jamie in charge, we should have known better, and our expectations are now properly adjusted for our upcoming Clay Shoot and Pit King Challenge!
Jamie joined the PBPA staff in the summer of 2018. Many of you knew her previously from her work at the Petroleum Club of Midland. As with every PBPA staff member, Jamie wears many hats, but her main responsibilities are planning and executing events and being PBPA’s administrative lead. If you call the PBPA headquarters in Midland, you’ll likely be greeted by Jamie and if she can’t help answer any questions you may have, she’ll make sure you get to the right staff member who can. Jamie helps make sure that everything under the hood at PBPA is running as it should. As each of you know, having someone who effectively and efficiently handles the administrative side of a business allows other employees the opportunity to excel in their particular areas of focus as well.
The PBPA staff is a tight-knit team and the achievements of the association are the result of all our staff working closely together. There is no doubt, however, that the success of our events and the opportunity for many of our staff members to succeed in their tasks comes down to the strong skills, work ethic, and commitment that Jamie Ramirez brings to the table. When everything is humming under the hood, we can really let the throttle out.
At this month’s Clay Shoot and Pit King Challenge, join me in extended a truly deserved thank you to Jamie for all she does for the PBPA.
