Baker Hughes’ count of active oil and gas drilling rigs remained flat for the week that ended April 22 in Permian Basin, Texas and New Mexico. U.S. added 2 rigs in the previous week to reach 695 (438 a year ago). There were 334 rigs in Permian (226 year ago), 346 in Texas (211 year ago) and 95 in New Mexico (71 year ago). North Dakota and Alaska were only major states to add rigs last week.
Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 56 rigs followed by Oklahoma with 51 and North Dakota with 35. Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 67 rigs followed by Eagle Ford with 61, Marcellus with 37 and Williston with 36.
Lea County, N.M., remains the Permian leader with 50 rigs followed by Eddy, N.M., with 41, Midland with 40, Reeves with 42, Martin with 31, Loving with 28 and Howard with 22.
