Counts of active drilling rigs fell in Texas, New Mexico and U.S. in Baker Hughes’ weekly report of April 10 to lose gains of the previous week. Baker Hughes said there were 232 rigs in Texas (down 1 in past week, down 42 or 15.33 percent from 274 in the past year), 101 in New Mexico (down 2 in past week, up 1 in past year) and 545 in U.S. (down 3 in previous week, down 38 or 6.52 percent from 583 in past year).
The count in Permian Basin was unchanged at 242 rigs (down 47 or 16.26 percent from 289 in past year).
Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions in rig count with 56 (unchanged in past week) followed by Eagle Ford in south Texas with 43 (down 2), Williston with 28 (down 1) and Marcellus with 25 (unchanged). Among states, Louisiana added 3 rigs to rank third with 43 rigs followed by Oklahoma with 42 (down 2) and North Dakota with 26 (down 1). Louisiana led major producing states with its gain of 3 rigs.
