Baker Hughes reported small increases in rig counts in Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. in the past week. As of Feb. 4, there were 294 rigs in Permian (293 week ago, 198 year ago), 287 in Texas (284 week ago, 189 year ago) and 613 in U.S. (610 week ago, 392 year ago). New Mexico’s rig count declined by 2 rigs in the past week to 92 (61 year ago).
Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 54 rigs (unchanged in past week) followed by Eagle Ford with 50 (unchanged), Marcellus with 33 and Williston with 31. Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 55 rigs (down 2 in past week) followed by Oklahoma with 50 (down 1) and North Dakota with 30 (up 3).
Lea County, N.M., remains the Permian leader with 58 rigs followed by Eddy, N.M., and Midland each with 30, Reeves with 26, Martin with 24 and Howard with 21. Eddy’s count was down 5 in the previous week. Enverus said Pioneer Natural Resources is the most active driller in Permian Basin as of Feb. 3 with 26 rigs.
