Rig counts in Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. continued to rebound, according to weekly report of Sept. 15 by Baker Hughes. There were 322 rigs in Permian Basin (320 last week, 343 year ago), 317 in Texas (310 last week, 364 year ago) and 641 in U.S. (632 last week, 763 year ago). The count in New Mexico declined by 2 in past week to 102 (108 year ago). Texas’ gain of 7 was the largest among major producing states.
Lea County, N.M., reported 3 fewer rigs, but continues to lead Permian Basin with 58 followed by Eddy, N.M., with 43 (up 1), Martin with 38 (up 2), and Loving (down 2) and Reeves (up 3) each with 28 rigs. Midland fell out of the top five with 27 rigs (down 1) followed by Ward with 14, Glasscock and Reagan each with 12, and Howard with 11.
Louisiana is No. 3 among states with 42 (unchanged) followed by Oklahoma with 39 (unchanged) and North Dakota with 30 (unchanged). Eagle Ford is No. 2 among regions with 49 rigs (unchanged) followed by Haynesville with 41 (unchanged), Williston with 32 (unchanged) and Marcellus with 29 (unchanged).
