Sour gas treating plant under construction by Pinon in Lea County

May 13, 2021 by PBOG

Houston-based Pinon Midstream said April 27 that Dark Horse, a greenfield sour gas treating and carbon capture facility and associated pipeline infrastructure, are under construction in Lea County, N.M. Pinon said it’s “the first purpose-built sour gas infrastructure solution of its kind in the Delaware Basin.” The facilities are underwritten by a long-term dedication from anchor producer Ameredev II. Operations are expected to begin in July at full capacity treating about 85 million cubic feet of sour gas per day.
The project includes a central amine treating facility, an 18,000-foot acid gas sequestration well and 30,000 horsepower of field compression. It will deliver treated sweet gas to multiple third-party gas processing plants and is expandable to treat up to 400 million cubic feet per day of sour gas. Steven Green, president, said, “Our goal is to provide the most creative and cost-effective sour gas solution for the Delaware Basin… It also substantially reduces flaring and greenhouse gas emissions in southeast New Mexico.”

Why do you want to print LIES like this? The Dollarhide Gas Plant operated since 1947 originally by Pure
Oil Company, now merged in 1963 with Union Oil of California, Union 76 has been processing sour gas
with amine absorption since it started in Andrews county. Likewise there are several sour gas treating plants in Winkler county around Kermit, Texas. The plant at Goldsmith, Texas in Ector county treats sour
    gas.

I put in Cryogenic Cracking units on those plants and helped refurbish the Amine absorption lean oil units
    on those plants.

I don’t like DISINFORMATION in PBOG derived from EPA/Biden Socialist sources.

50 year veteran of oil and gas production/refining in west Texas besides being a Vietnam veteran….I want
to see TRUTH in the west Texas oil patch.

Another plant with Amine absorption for sour gas I put in Cryogenic Cracking on and gas turbine
compression was operated by Phillips at Oil Center, New Mexico in Lea county…..in 1974!!
