Seems like it just got here, but if you want to “do” summer, best get going, ’cause it’s going fast. We won’t miss the triple-digit temps, though!
WHERE TO EAT:
For those of y’all who love a good burger—boy oh boy do I have a great one for ya. Addie’s Diner on Florida Street in Midland is serving up ‘50s style diner food in a ‘50s style atmosphere. Yum. Yum. Yum… Yum. Yum. The décor is cute, and really fun with big bold paintings of diner food on the walls, and vinyl records hanging from the ceiling. My seven-year-old walked in and exclaimed, “Wow! Mom, look at all the CDs!” She didn’t quite get that there’s a difference, and kind of stared at me blankly as I tried to explain how records work versus CDs. Yeah, I guess ol’ Mom is kind of a dork… and a dinosaur. But back to that burger… If you’ve never put a fried egg on your burger you have been missing out. I tried a “Breakfast Burger” for the first time, and I’m definitely getting that again. Runny egg yolk is the perfect condiment to bring out the beefiness of the burger… and the crisp bacon definitely adds something delicious to the already perfect, made-from-scratch patty. The jalapeno bun was soft, spicy and slightly sweet. But what really wowed me were the homemade potato chips. These gals could put Frito Lay out of business! The chips arrived perfectly crispy… and still warm. I’d go back for the chips alone… well… I have to admit… I would have to get a burger too. It’s just too good! Addie’s Diner also has a full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and works very hard to make sure you’re completely happy. So come on back to the ‘50s and get your diner food fix at Addie’s Diner.
