Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association said last week Texas was again the nation’s leading producer of crude oil last year. The state produced a record 2.1 billion barrels for oil markets in 2025, and Texas also produced a record for natural gas of 13.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. U.S. totals for 2025 were 13.6 million barrels per day and 107.7 billion cfd. Ed Longanecker, president, said March 6, “Thanks to record production, driven significantly by the Permian’s improved well productivity, domestic demand was met and natural gas continued to supply affordable and reliable power. We applaud the Texas oil and natural gas industry and the policymakers that understand its importance.”
New Mexico had the second highest oil production at 797 million barrels followed by North Dakota with 425 million barrels. Pennsylvania was runner-up in gas production with 7.8 trillion cubic feet.
Longanecker added, “TIPRO will continue to advocate for policies at all levels of government to strengthen the U.S. oil and natural gas industry, ensuring Texas remains the nation’s leading producer while supporting jobs, economic growth, energy security and reliable, affordable energy for consumers and industry.”
