Christi Craddick, chair of the Railroad Commission of Texas, and Missi Currier, president and CEO of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, were among the featured speakers recently at the annual meeting of Permian Basin Petroleum Association. Craddick (R-Midland) spoke at the PBPA luncheon Sept. 17 in Midland.
Craddick said during the upcoming 90th session of the Texas legislature that begins Jan. 12, 2027, the commission will work with lawmakers to ensure the agency continues to be well-funded to maintain efficiency and the necessary infrastructure is built. The commission received $100 million last year to plug orphaned wells, and it plans to ask for another $100 million next year. “The Permian Basin’s continued success depends on pipelines, roads, electricity and water infrastructure,” she said.
