Houston- and New York City-based Glenfarne Group said this week it secured new capital to continue development and early construction of the proposed Texas LNG export terminal on 625 acres at Port of Brownsville. HPS Investment Partners, part of Blackrock, agreed to an investment of $500 million. It’s one of the final steps required for the four million tonnes-per-year project to reach final investment decision. Omaha-based Kiewit is the lead engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
Texas LNG is being developed as one of the lowest-emitting LNG export facilities in the world using electric motor drives. The project is part of Glenfarne’s permitted North American LNG portfolio in Texas, Louisiana and Alaska.
