Texas and U.S. posted their highest counts of active drilling rigs so far this year in Baker Hughes’ weekly report of Nov. 11. Texas had 373 rigs (up 4 in past week, up 109 in past year), and U.S. had 779 rigs (up 9 in past week, up 223 in past year). (Texas also had 373 rigs Aug. 5.) Permian Basin added 4 rigs last week to reach 350 (272 year ago), and New Mexico was unchanged last week with 106 rigs (81 year ago). High counts for 2022 are 351 in Permian and 113 in New Mexico. And there’s now a 2022 high of 622 oil-directed rigs (up 9 in past week) in U.S.
Oklahoma is No. 3 among states with 67 rigs (unchanged in past week) followed by Louisiana with 65 (up 6) and North Dakota with 38 (unchanged). Eagle Ford (up 1) in south Texas and Haynesville (up 2) in east Texas and Louisiana each has 71 rigs, Williston has 41 rigs (unchanged) and Marcellus has 39 (down 2).
Lea County (down 1 to 62 rigs) and Eddy County (up 1 to 41) in New Mexico are the Permian leaders followed by Reeves (up 1 to 38), Martin (unchanged at 36), Midland (up 1 to 31) and Loving (down 2 to 22).
